Sonne

– ordered artwork –

"Sun" - acrylics with paper and texture gel on canvas (four canvasses of 30x30cm each)

Sonne (Sun)

The order was to create a not too big, geometric and light picture with different textures for an office wall behind a desk. It should hang over a small shelf near the window. The symbol of the sun was chosen as subject.

The canvasses were primed in Titanium White and laid together in a square. The inner stripe of the sun was made of binder coated, crinkled silkpaper and later painted with thinned Cadmium Orange and dark Cadmium Yellow. The two stripes on the sides were made of Natural Sand Texture Gel that was put on with a small painting knife. The texture was created by pulling the flat part of the knife quickly off of the gel. Those parts were painted wit thinned dark Cadmium Yellow and extremly thinned Cadmium Orange. In the end, Titanium White was applied with a dry brush and everything was painted with transparent varnish.

This painting is now hanigng in the German Federal Social Insurance Authority in Bonn/Germany.
